Planning

A simple calendar showing flexible and busy van-booking days

When should you book a van move?

Book earlier when the time is fixed. A wider window helps when the job itself is flexible.

Book as soon as the route, item list and real timing requirement are clear.

There is no single number of days that fits every job. A flexible room move and a fixed store collection do not need the same plan.

Book earlier when

  • you need a Saturday morning
  • the seller gives one short collection window
  • a store order has a fixed slot
  • the building requires a loading-bay booking
  • the job needs a larger van
  • several people or sites are involved
  • you are moving around month end

The less flexible the job, the more useful early booking becomes.

Example: a fixed seller collection

Imagine a seller can only meet on Tuesday between 5 pm and 6 pm.

The buyer also needs the item delivered before their building reception closes. There is very little room to move the job earlier or later.

This should be booked once the seller has confirmed the item, measurements and window. Leaving it until the day makes assignment harder because the timing cannot change.

Example: a flexible room move

Now imagine a packed room moving between two addresses on the same day, but the customer is available from late morning to early evening.

A wider window gives Boxra more room to assign the right driver. The customer should still book once the item list and access details are ready.

Same-day bookings

Same-day availability depends on the area, van required and current driver capacity.

Enter the real job. The booking flow should show the availability for that route and load. Do not assume every same-day request can be placed.

Do not choose a false time

Selecting an early time simply to “get in first” can create a problem when the items or seller are not ready.

Use the actual collection requirement. A clear wider window is better than a precise time that nobody can keep.

Confirm these details before choosing the date

  1. Are all items known?
  2. Will packing be finished?
  3. Is the seller or store ready?
  4. Are keys available?
  5. Does reception or storage have opening hours?
  6. Is a loading bay required?
  7. Can the largest item leave and enter the buildings?

When plans change

Update the booking before the job when possible.

A changed date, added stop or larger load may affect the booking. During the job, extra scope must stay inside the Change Order flow. The driver cannot replace the booked price with a cash request.

Check availability.
